Teaching Philosophy

In my classroom, I want to establish a mutual feeling of respect with my students as we work toward a common goal of student success. I encourage students to ask questions and collaborate with their peers and myself, as they work to build confidence in their science abilities. For me, providing students with a positive learning environment is essential in fostering high achievement. I want to inspire the next generation to follow STEM careers!

Educational/Career Journey

After graduating from LCHS, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree, in Elementary Education and Biology at Georgetown College. I have since earned my Master’s degree from EKU and my Rank 1. I am currently beginning my 25th year of teaching. This is my 3rd year teaching at LCHS. I have spent 20 years teaching 4th grade science at Crab Orchard, Hustonville, and Stanford. I have also taught 1st and 2nd grades at Danville Christian Academy. It was my goal to teach Biology at the high school level and am every excited about this continued opportunity and the ability to reconnect with many of my former students.

Personal Background

I have lived in Lincoln Co. all my life, and have been married to my high school sweetheart, Darin (that I met in Mr. Chute's LCHS physics class), for 25 years. We have been blessed with three wonderful children, Anna who is 21 and is attending Midway University and is currently studying to be a Math teacher, and Abby who is 19 and attends EKU to be a social worker, and Elan who is 17 and plays LCHS football. Together we love to travel, attend sporting events (Go PATS!), and be active in our church.
