Welcome to Fifth Grade

I am glad you are here. I hope you can enjoy the fullest experience of all that fifth grade has to offer. We have lots of learning that will be taking place this year. We are in year one of learning with our new Amplify Science curriculum. We are in year four of HMH Into Reading, and year two for McGraw Hill Social Studies. Fifth grade uses McGraw Hill My Math as well as supplemental learning with IXL. We offer after school home help Tuesday-Thursday until 3:40pm and even have a bus to take you home. Fifth grade is the year that students can elect to participate in Band and/or Choir, Speech Team (new this year) Cross Country, Softball, Basketball, Cheer, Volleyball, and Track. I am looking forward to helping you succeed this year. I can't wait to see all that we can learn together!!

About me: I am fortunate to teach at Limestone Walters! Did you know I went to grade school here at LW? I sure did. I also graduated from LCHS, class of 1999. I earned my Associates Degree from Illinois Central College and then transferred to the University of Washington-Seattle to earn a BA in the Social Sciences called Comparative History of Ideas. I earned my Masters in Teaching from Western Illinois University.

A few fun facts: I met my husband when we were in kindergarten here at LW. We have two boys, two Goldendoodles: Ted and Jack, and a cat named Moxie. I love to travel and have lived quite a few places. We love to go on outdoor adventures. I am on a softball team and crew team where I cox and row on the Illinois River. I also play volleyball when I have the time. As a family, we enjoy watching and playing sports. I also love plants, maps, books, theatre, chess, card games, being active, and learning.
