Meta Search - Meta search engines will allow you to use several search engines at the same time.

Key Words - What words will you need to use in your search? Don't start with the obvious, but consider synonyms, plural and singular versions of the key words. Also, consider dates or names. Examples: immigrants, immigration, America, United States, immigration from a country. For synonyms use the online Thesaurus.

Search engine tips: such as AND, OR, NOT. Find out what your search engine uses. If using Google go to Advanced Search Made Easy and use the short cut symbols in your search. Example: immigrants, +immigration, +America, +United States.

Advanced Searching - Try using Google Advanced Search or Google Scholar. Both of these will provide more advanced search results.

Document - If you find a good site write down the URL, keywords, and the date you accessed it. You might want to save the first page of the website or bookmark the site for later use.

Validity - How valid is the author and the site? Does the site want you to buy something? Website evaluation tutorial

Bookmark - Use the bookmark to help manage the sites you visit.

Evaluate your search keywords - If you don't have any luck re-evaluate your keywords and consider others.

Find-In Page - If you want to find a word fast use the "Find" tool. To access this, push CTRL + F.

Print Preview - Before you print a website always look at the Print Preview. Highlighting the text and then printing does not print what is highlighted.

Saving a Website - While on the Chromebook, your best option to save a website instead of printing it. To do this, click the three dots located on the far right side of the URL. Next, click Print this will provide you with options on how to Save your page as a PDF. You will then find the website saved in your Google Drive.
