COVID-19 Impact

The District COVID-19 Impact: Current 10-Day COVID-19 Impact Rate is the total student and staff member COVID-19 related incidence rate for Shawnee Local Schools (and each individual building) over the previous 7 calendar days (today plus the six (6) previous calendar days). A COVID-19 related impact includes a confirmed case or a Health Department mandate to order quarantine.

The circles represent the current COVID-19 related impact rate for Shawnee Local School District and individual buildings. The percentages will change dependent upon the COVID-19 impact experienced across the district or within each building. You will also notice zones based on percentages and district indicators - these correspond with a potential decision for a school building, or the school district.

Optional Masking Zone (Less than 6%) In person instruction, mask wearing optional for staff & students.

Required Masking Zone (More than 6% and less than 10%) In person instruction, staff and students mask wearing for at least 5 consecutive days.

Potential Hybrid Zone (More than10%) Potential hybrid learning model/modified instruction.

The system also monitors each of Shawnee Local’s individual school buildings. Buildings with blank indicators have had zero cases on the current day or previous 5 calendar days.

If a mitigation strategy is to be implemented, the application of the strategy will be considered on a building-by-building or classroom-by-classroom basis (where appropriate; grades K-6), unless widespread events impact the district at large, per the total district COVID-19 impact rate. Prior to implementation of a mitigation strategy, it is recommended that a building’s (or the district’s) COVID-19 impact rate stabilize for three (3) consecutive days before a change.

Final decisions regarding a potential change in mitigation strategy or instructional model will be communicated appropriately.

Dashboard data is gathered and updated on a daily basis from the appropriate Shawnee Schools staff and personnel.
