Dear Students, Parents and Caregivers,
It has been a busy week at Lighthouse as our upper secondary students take mock exams to prepare for October and November, and our lower secondary students complete MAP testing to continually track their growth and progress in literacy and numeracy. Meanwhile, many of our art students are preparing some of their best work for our online auction or Art Week display next week; I hope you will feel free to peruse the gallery that is being constructed for this special week!
Lastly, I should say that next week, you may see one of our board members, Mr Stephen Andrews, on campus, as he visits from Australia. Stephen has been with Lighthouse since its inception and remains an integral part of keeping our school focused on its mission and vision. Feel free to say hello!
Sincerely,
Zach Mulert
Head of Secondary
Come and discover the creativity, imagination, and talent of our young artists! We warmly invite our school community to visit our art exhibition displayed in the Hub for the whole week, from 8:00 to 15:00.
Love a piece? Selected artworks will also be available for purchase through our online auction, giving you the opportunity to take home a unique creation while supporting our young artists. You will find a QR code that will allow you to scan and verify the details and bidding prizes.
To end the Art Week, we will run an Art Assembly when we dig deeper into understanding the theme of “God, being the master artist”. During this assembly, we will announce the winners from lower and upper secondary categories.
The qualifying journey for Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards in the Duke of Edinburgh programme will take place during the week of the 27 to 30 July. Students have been well prepared to undertake their respective journey, and we as leaders look forward to seeing each student complete the qualifier for their award level.
Bronze and Gold Awards begin on Monday 27 July, and will complete a route from Le Morne to Bel Ombre (first night) and then up to Alexander Falls, where the Bronze will finish on Tuesday and return home. The silver awardees join the groups at Bel Ombre on Tuesday morning and will then continue with the gold awardees through to Thursday afternoon, where the journey ends after the route down Sept Cascades and up to the parking.
This is an exciting undertaking, and it is and amazing to note that if all goes well, Lighthouse could celebrate 2 students with the Gold award, 13 students with the Silver award and 21 with the Bronze award.
Parent-Teacher Conferences will take place over two days, starting at 14:00 until 18:00 on Thursday, 30 July, and from 8:00 until 12:40 on Friday, 31 July. You will be able to sign up for these meetings on Ed-Admin on Monday, 27 July.
Please be reminded that secondary’s last classes will meet on Thursday, 30 July, and school will end at 12:40 on that day. Primary classes will continue through 12:40 on Friday, 31 July.
We strongly encourage you to bring your student along for the parent-teacher conference for optimal impact.

Registration for Term 3 After-School Sports (Volleyball, Football, and Netball) will open during the term break. Opening registrations early will allow teams to begin training immediately upon our return, ensuring we make the most of the shortened term without losing valuable practice time waiting for sign-ups to be completed.
We are also anticipating a football and volleyball competition during the first week back, making it especially important that all registrations are finalized by Monday, 24 August.
If your child has decided not to continue participating in after-school sports this term, particularly due to upcoming examinations, please ensure that all school-issued sports jerseys are returned promptly. Jerseys that are not returned may be charged to the student's account at the end of the school year.
We look forward to another exciting term of Volleyball, Football, and Netball, and we encourage all interested students to register on time so they don't miss out!
We are happy to announce that this year's Sports Day winner is SPERO. Congratulations to them; they performed incredibly and deserve this victory.
We also want to highlight that Fidem came in 2nd place with only 7 points behind Spero and that Amare earned 3rd place.
It was a great day, and despite competing in a new stadium, everything went smoothly.
Thank you to all parents, supporters, helpers, volunteers, teachers, and students who made this day a success!
