Dear Parents, Students and Caregivers,
Welcome to the 2026 School Year! We (Lighthouse) are excitedly looking forward to welcoming all NEW students to our Open House this Wednesday, January 14th (10:30 - 12:00 for Grades 7-9; 13:00-14:30 for Grades 10-13), and welcoming back everyone (returning students) on Thursday, January 15th.
For those who already know me, thank you for all of your warm wishes and prayers while I was away last year, prioritizing my health and well-being. I return to Lighthouse refreshed, recharged and so grateful for what we can accomplish together this school year.
To prepare you for the start of the school year, we are sharing a lot of information below. Please take note that there are a few updated policies (including updated attendance and dress code policies) that are important to understand before the school year begins. Thank you for taking the time to read this newsletter so that the first day(s) can go smoothly and we prepare for a wonderful year together.
See you soon!
Zach Mulert
Head of Secondary
Please be reminded to download, activate and familiarise yourself with the Ed-Admin MP app (named Ed-Admin multi portal) as soon as possible.
Activation code: 241850.
If you are unable to log into the Ed-Admin MP App, we highly recommend you try logging in through the web browser https://lighthouse.ed-space.net before downloading the app.
If you can’t remember how to access Ed-Admin, these tutorials still exist to guide you:
Parents: this platform gives you an overview of your children's sports and club activities, parent event sign-ups, class schedule, and school reports.
Students: this also gives you access to your weekly timetable and relevant sign-ups as well!
Starting Wednesday morning, and before classes begin on Thursday, please log in to verify your HOMEROOM TEACHER and also please check your Term 1 Timetable.
If you're struggling to download and log into the Ed-Admin app, please email our ICT Lead, Mr Adrien on ict@lighthouse.edu.mu for assistance.
If all else fails, be sure to know your homeroom teacher. When school begins on Thursday at 8:00, students are to go to your homeroom teacher/classroom where teachers will also have a printed schedule for students just in case anyone is having trouble accessing it.
For G10-13 students, if you see your timetable and feel there are subject selection changes to be made, please email Mr Yogesh (yogesh.caulleechurn@lighthouse.edu.mu) and Ms Anais (anais.baptiste@lighthouse.edu.mu) with your requests. While they will do everything they can to make any adjustments before school begins on Thursday, please note that 1) not all subject changes can necessarily be granted and 2) there may not be sufficient time to make changes before the first day of school. Thank you for your patience as they reply to each individual request.
Wednesday’s Open House will be for our new students only.
All of our Grade 7 students are invited, as this will be their first time in Secondary. Any other newly admitted students are also invited to attend. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to meet teachers, understand the layout of our campus, and become acclimated to the new environment. Please note the different times below, depending on enrolment in Lower Secondary or Upper Secondary.
Grades 7, 8, 9 - 10:30 -12:00
Grades 10, 11, 12, 13 - 13:00-14:30
Please meet at the Pavilion, and do note that parking for the 10:30 Open House may take some additional time, so plan accordingly!
On Thursday, when students arrive after 7:30, please go directly to your homeroom classroom. If, per above, you still do not know who your homeroom teacher is, you can ask a number of staff who will be positioned outside the secondary building to direct you. After a whole school assembly and brief secondary announcements, we will carry out a normal Thursday schedule through 15:00, although instead of chapel from 9:40 - 10:20, students will once again meet with their homeroom teachers.
Our Student Dress Code Policy [2026] have been updated to include both uniform and grooming expectations. Please take special care to note our new policy on jewellery, make-up, fingernails, and hair colour. We encourage you to watch this short video below, from Mr. West and Mr. Zach, explaining why we are changing our policies.
Also, regarding uniform, all students are expected to be in a Lighthouse uniform at all times during the school day. Non-lighthouse jackets, hoodies, shorts, or athletic wear are not permitted. Should you have any questions, please reach out to Mr Matthew or Mr Samuel for clarification (matthew.nissley@lighthouse.edu.mu; samuel.han@lighthouse.edu.mu).
Please note that we have also updated our Attendance Policy [2026]. Please take note that all students arriving after 8:00 need to have a parent sign them in at the Hub. Please also take note that excessive absences due to illness may require a doctor’s note, and that for our G11-G13 exam takers, attendance is required until 1 October, or students will not be able to sit for CIE exams. We (Lighthouse) want to make the most of every moment to learn with you, so thank you for adhering to our policy!
A reminder that anytime a student will be absent from school or departing early, please email attendance@lighthouse.edu.mu or call our main number 243 7100 so that we can accurately monitor your child and provide good care. Mr Frederick, LSS Secretary, is our key contact in tracking all student movements.
In the case of lateness and/or early departure, please come sign in and/or out at the Hub.
As a Google Workspace school, we equip our students with Chromebooks to learn and organise their work. These devices are fully managed by our IT team to ensure a safe and productive usage.
From 7:30 to 15:00 on school days, Chromebooks:
Only work with a Lighthouse account
Block inappropriate websites and YouTube content
Prevent incognito browsing
Allow only pre-approved apps and extensions
Keep track of student activity for safety and accountability
Please make sure to check our blog to learn more about Chromebooks for your children.
We have many jackets that have been found on the playground, or in the Pavilion in Term 3. If your child is missing a jacket, please be sure to check our ‘Lost & Found’ box at the hub before the end of January, as we will make all remaining jackets available to our scholarship students thereafter.
To ensure that we have the most up-to-date information for your child, we kindly ask you to log-in to your Ed-admin Parents’ Portal and update your details if any change in address, phone number etc.
If something has changed for your child health wise, please keep us up to date by submitting a new Student Health Form. Otherwise, we will assume all permissions and medical information remain unchanged.
No medications may be kept in student bags! If your child needs to take medication while at school, please fill out this Medication Authorization form and drop the form and medication at the Hub.
First Aid notifications to parents: We do not phone parents for minor first aid incidents at school. You will receive a call or note in the following circumstances:
A call if your child is sick needs to be sent home.
A call if your child is injured and may require further medical attention.
Please email the school nurse at charlotte.crockett@lighthouse.edu.mu for any questions or drop the completed forms at the Hub.
We warmly invite you to join us for our weekly Friday prayer meetings, as we come together in prayer, lifting our school and community before God.
Join us this Friday, from 08:00 to 08:30 at the Hub (upstairs balcony). We look forward to seeing you there - all welcome!
All parents and caregivers, new and old, are welcome to come to our “New for 2026” Parent Night on Wednesday, 28 January at 18:00. During this annual presentation, Mr Zach, Mr Matthew and Mr. Yogesh will do their best to highlight “what’s new for 2026” in alignment with the school’s mission and vision.
Come to the Pavilion that evening and if you have questions ahead of time, please contact Mr Frederick at frederick.francois@lighthouse.edu.mu (while students are welcome to attend, this session is primarily for parents).
Meanwhile, having initiated Class Parent Liaison WhatsApp groups last year, we are looking for willing volunteers who are interested in serving as grade level parent liaisons for this year. If you would like to be a communicator for a WhatsApp group, please indicate your interest to Mr Frederick Francois (frederick.francois@lighthouse.edu.mu).
For IGCSE (Grade 10) subjects, the deadline to complete any official subject add or drop request is Monday, 2 February, 2026. Students are reminded that they need to have a minimum of 7 IGCSE subjects including one science and one humanities.
A Google form will be made available to register requests for change of subjects after the first week of school. Separately, for students taking AS Level subjects, the changes can be made from Tuesday, 10 February, 2026, until Monday, 16 February, 2026. Kindly note that for all subject changes, only parents and guardians are allowed to fill in the form.
We are excited to announce that we will be distributing the 2025 Lighthouse Yearbook to all families whose students have completed the 2025 academic year.
One yearbook per family will be distributed at no charge, to the eldest student of the family. An electronic version of the yearbook will soon be available for you to download.
