Class Parent Liaisons and WhatsApp Communications for Secondary Parents/Caregivers

Given the positive feedback of the Class Parent Liaison (CPL) WhatsApp groups in the Primary School for the past two years, we're extending these groups to the Secondary School. These grade-specific parent groups will help keep you informed about school and class updates.

While your main sources of information will still be our weekly newsletter and direct emails, the CPL groups offer an extra way to receive timely reminders and get answers to specific questions. The CPL leader will share important news and reminders from grade and school leadership, through these groups.

Please take a moment to fill out the form - CLICK HERE, choosing whether you prefer to join a group for announcements only or one where you can comment or ask questions (also a great way to get to know the parents in your student's grade).

We believe this extra channel will greatly improve communication in our school.

Please complete the form by Wednesday, 20 March. Your support is appreciated in making our school communication more effective for everyone! We hope to have all groups up and running by early April.

Weekly Secondary News

See you at tonight's Family Picnic!

We are very excited about welcoming you at our Family Picnic, kicking off at 17:30 today (Friday). What better way to end your week? All families are welcome to come and enjoy the evening with us - and feel free to invite friends outside of our school community. Bring along your picnic blankets and supper, and let's enjoy a night of fun together!  The picnic usually ends by 20:30.

Spiritual Emphasis Week: Who is welcome at my table?

Parents and Caregivers are invited to join students during our Spiritual Emphasis Week from Monday, 25 March through to Thursday, 28 March.  This week will include special assemblies and activities from 10:00 - 10:40 daily (in lieu of traditional homeroom/chapel), including praise and worship, testimonies, teaching/skits, along with creative and reflective activities, based on the idea of “Who is welcome at my table?”  We invite you as parents to join us!

Please take note, we will have slightly truncated classes with the following schedule:

08:00-08:40 - Period 1

08:40-09:20 - Period 2

09:20-10:00 - Period 3

10:00-10:40 - Chapel

10:40-11:00 - Break

Chromebook Update for Grade 7

We continue to work closely with our supplier to understand when the Chromebooks ordered (originally due in January) will be arriving.  Their latest estimates are the third or fourth week of March.  We are grateful to be working behind the scenes on Google Education’s Zero Touch Enrolment and expedited delivery so that we will be able to integrate the Chromebooks into our learning as soon as possible.

Celebrating Pi Day π

This Thursday, Lighthouse joined other math lovers around the world in celebrating Pi Day! Pi Day is a annual celebration, dedicated to the mathematical constant π. It falls on March 14th as the first three digits of π are 3.14. It started in the United States and has become a global tradition, bringing together people who love math and those curious about its wonders.

Our students were all treated to a delicious slice of Pie and gathered in the pavilion for a fun session led by Mr. Chad.

Academic Catch Up

Parents/Caregivers: did you know that Lighthouse has something we call “Academic Catch Up” during lunch each day from 12:40 - 13:10?

If a student has been unable to complete his/her work in a timely manner, a teacher may assign a student to this daily “catch up” session during lunch where a member of our Academic Team is there to supervise work completion and also help understand the barriers that may have prevented the student completing his/her work.  If your student finds him/herself regularly assigned to “academic catch up,” our Academic Team will be in touch with you to discuss how we may further support your child to understand what he/she may need to better complete his/work work.

B.L.A.S.T.  Building Lives Around Solid Truth

We are excited to introduce a new weekly after-school fellowship for all Secondary students, starting Wednesday, 20 March. This event will be held every Wednesday while school is in session from 3:15pm to 5:00pm, and it will provide food, fun, games, community building and interactive Bible study.

Please note that this is not a Lighthouse activity, but is directed by several Lighthouse staff members including Matthew & Hilary Nissley, Luke & Charlotte Crockett, and Damien & Hannah Tanner. If your son or daughter is interested in participating, please complete this form and return to Mr. Matthew, Mrs. Hilary or Mrs. Charlotte. If your child requires transport, please let us know.
