Dear Parents, Students and Caregivers,
I am really looking forward to hosting our first ever International Food Fair on Friday, June 28th. If I can be direct, I hope that secondary parents will consider contributing. Our goal is to enjoy wonderful tastes from the many countries and cultures represented in our diverse student population. Our goal is to also include parents to partake in this event. Already, we have five different countries represented and given Mauritius' culinary flavors, we hope we can offer many diverse Mauritian dishes as well.
In case you missed it, we need your help in signing up before this coming Monday, 17 June. If you are willing to prepare a snack, dish, or baked goods for approximately 40 people, we want to share our amazing cuisine (and national pride) with the Lighthouse Secondary community. Please, would you consider preparing a dish that is a family favourite and contributing to an afternoon of food, laughter and time spent together? We hope it will be a beautiful new tradition for our culture-rich community.
Sincerely,
Zach Mulert
Head of Secondary

Congratulations to the Grade 7 students for completing their first secondary school camp! The week was full of exciting activities including the lava tubes at Roches Noires, camping out, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, team building and dragon boating. Well done to every student for overcoming fear and exploring new friendships and experiences. We thank God for each one of you and look forward to seeing the fruit of your growth back at school.

University & Career Counsellor
Please take note that Ms. Sophonie Lim, current University & Career Counsellor is away on maternity leave. As such, Ms. Lucy Beatty is helping assist Lighthouse in this role. Grade 13 students: be on the lookout for Ms. Lucy’s email to you shortly to schedule an appointment as we support you for your future planning.
Bilingual Spelling Bee Report
Our students from Gr 5-7 tried their best during the Tr-School Bilingual Spelling Bee last Friday, mostly aiming for 3-point words which were not easy to spell. Despite our best efforts, Lighthouse came in 3rd place, while Northfields came in 2nd and Ecole du Nord in 1st place.
All the same, we want to congratulate Lighthouse students on the teamwork that they demonstrated during the last stages of the competition where they had to choose collectively from 1-point, 2-point or 3-point words and write them on a board to either show it to the judges or to send one of them to spell it. This was a positive demonstration of a sense of belonging and unity across grades! Well done!
Uniform Shop Notice
Our uniform shop has moved from the Primary Resource Room, to above the Pavilion kitchen. Please see map below for clear directions on how to find our new shop! As always, you can view the uniform price list here. You can also email Ms. Melanie at uniform@lighthouse.edu.mu.
Lost and Found Reminder
We have noticed an increasing number of unmarked clothing, caps, and water bottles in our Lost and Found box. Please ensure that all personal items are clearly marked with your child's name and surname to facilitate their return and remind your children that they are responsible for their belongings and should take care to keep track of what they bring to school. Thank you!
