Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students,
I am greatly looking forward to our school’s Sports Day next Friday in Bambous. While I do understand that not everyone is gifted in athletics, I greatly enjoy watching students give their best, whether during the track and field events, or the war cries, or the house spirit that pervades the entire day. More directly, I love this event for the sense of community it creates, amidst our shared core values. I hope all of you will choose to come spend the day with us!
Meanwhile, I should tell you that behind the scenes, we continue to evaluate how we can better care for our community. Dr Claire and Ms Emma are overseeing a few staff committees about well-being and spiritual formation. Our entire team (teachers, staff, facilities) also underwent an additional safeguarding training this past Monday, all with an eye to keeping everyone safe and secure. I am grateful for the continued steps we take to make this a flourishing community.
Sincerely,
Zach Mulert
Head of Secondary

Our Grade 10 Environmental Management students have had the chance to experience firsthand what it really means to care for our coastlines and waterways.
As part of our Marine & Coastal Youth Stewardship Club (MCYSY) and the Aire Marine Éducative (AME) programme, together with the Attitude Hotels and the Marine Discovery Centre, learners visited the Marine Discovery Centre (MDC) at the Attitude Hotel in Anse la Raie. They engaged in a series of interactive workshops that opened their eyes to the richness of our marine ecosystem.
They also had the incredible opportunity to take to the water aboard the EKOL'O, the first on-water school of its kind! It proposes snorkelling and marine world observations. Closer to home, students got their hands dirty at Rivière Citron, near the lighthouse, where they learned about their local river. Armed with scientific tools, they measured water temperature, current speed, and pH levels, like true environmental stewards!
On 26 and 27 June, we had the wonderful opportunity to host an exclusive two-day training at Lighthouse. In collaboration with Afraponix, +30 participants from Mauritius and abroad learned about the fascinating world of aquaponics.
From how to nurture and breed fish, plants, and microbial ecosystems; how to design and build a system; to how to run a profitable business, the course covered it all.
While part of it took place indoors, the practical side brought the students to the greenhouse, putting the theory into practice.
In line with our mission, this training helped promote sustainable agriculture to our students and wider community.
We are grateful to Justin for his expertise, to our FarmLab team, and to all the participants for making this event possible.
