Dear Parents, Students and Caregivers,
Next week will mark our second annual Arts Festival. As part of our commitment to holistic education, we value the Arts at Lighthouse. As a result, Mr. Navish Samyan and Ms. Prishma Jhurree are hard at work preparing an Art Exhibit in the Hub and in our secondary spaces for next Thursday and Friday (8/9 August) and our Friday assembly (9 August) will give space for some of our musicians to also showcase their artistic talents. We hope you may consider joining us on Friday night for our School Picnic and Art Auction, in which the funds raised will be used to further augment our school initiatives.
It gives me joy to see our students showcase all of their hard work, but I also hope this will be a wonderful community event, where parents and students of all ages will actively participate whether in celebrating our artistic achievements, or contributing your artistic talents yourselves. Thanks for making Lighthouse so special!
Sincerely,
Zach Mulert
Head of Secondary

With an end of term-assembly planned for Tuesday, August 13th, this means that the last class of Term 2 will be Period 5 on 13 August, before the Secondary dismisses at 12:40 that day.
Vans will bring secondary students home at 12:40 that day and transport primary siblings home at 15:00 as per usual. There will be no Secondary classes offered on Wednesday, August 14th. Primary classes will continue until 15:00 on 13 August and until 12:40 on 14 August.
Please take note that Parent-Teacher Conference sign-ups on Ed-Admin will begin on Thursday, 8 August after Progress Reports/Mock Teports are sent home. Thanks for planning accordingly and please email our Secretary, Mr Frederick at frederick.francois@lighthouse.edu.mu should anything be unclear.
2025 School Fees
Yesterday you should have received a communication from our Executive Head, Mr. Paul Beatty, about our school fees for the 2025 school year. Please make sure to have read that important communication to help with your planning.
Young Makers Competition
On Wednesday, four of our Digital Media Students, Zoe Bright, Naomi Gujadhur, Megan Sutton and Aleenah Muhammadtaki represented Lighthouse at the Young Makers Design for Impact Challenge. Our students really did an amazing job! It was an opportunity for them to create and develop a prototype on their chosen theme “Waste Management” and learn how technology could be used to address local and national issues. While the jury committee is currently reviewing all participating teams’ reports and projects for winners, our school’s concept video has been uploaded on the Code for Mauritius Instagram profile (@codeformauritius). Please like and share the video with friends and family as each “like” counts as a “vote”. Voting ends on Wednesday, 7 August.
End of Mock Exams
A note that mock exams have now been completed today for Grades 11, 12, and 13. Only those students in Digital Media and Design and Art will be completing some portfolio work on Monday, but all other classes will resume as normal on Monday morning.
Grade 7-9 Winter Social
Last Friday, our pavilion was transformed into a fairy-tale wonderland as the Grade 7-9 students enjoyed their winter social, themed "Happily Ever After."
The 'Best Dressed' awards, as decided by the parent and teacher chaperones, were awarded to Calixte Pilotelle and Ben Burnett.
The event was well supported and enjoyed by all! Thank you to the students, teachers, and parents for their hard work and enthusiasm in making this evening a success! Click here for more photos.
Lighthouse Participates in World Math Championship
This week, 21 secondary students from Lighthouse participated in the World Maths Championships. This prestigious event, the world's largest proctored online and pen-paper based math challenge, marks Lighthouse's debut in the competition. All participants will receive a detailed performance report and a certificate to acknowledge their efforts. Students who achieve more than 96 percentile, will receive a gold medal; a silver medal for all students between 93 and 96 percentile; and a bronze medal for all students who achieve between 90 - 93 percentile.
Lighthouse encourages participation in external competitions, such as this one, as it motivates students to excel academically and personally. These opportunities allow students to challenge themselves beyond their regular curriculum, achieve worldwide recognition, and enhance their mathematical abilities, personal development, and future scholarship prospects. Well done to all Lighthouse participants!
Thank you Mr. Emmanuel Okorwoit
With the return of Ms. Lucy Beatty, we give thanks to Mr. Emmanuel Okorwoit, who ably taught G10 and G11 IGCSE ICT while Ms. Lucy was away. We appreciate his contributions to our school!
School Photos
Children who were absent during this week’s photographs, will be slotted into our individual photo retake day on Monday, 12 August. Please note that our entire Grade 11 (Green and Yellow) has been rescheduled to this morning as well. Please ensure your child is neatly dressed in school uniform.
New Ed-Admin Multi Portal app
We are excited to inform you that Ed-Admin has developed a new multi-app portal for the mobile app, called Ed-Admin MP. This new portal is designed to improve communication between the school and our parent community, making it easier for you to stay connected and informed. Please visit your Play Store or App Store and search for "Ed-Admin MP" to download the app and start enjoying its features. Once downloaded, you will be asked for a 6 digit activation code. For Lighthouse Education Ltd, please use the following code: 241850
From there you can sign in with your email address and receive an OTP to log in to the app. Once you’re in, the interface and features of the app will be the same as, if not easier than before. To note that the previous Edana Parent app will be decommissioned. If you need any assistance with the Ed-Admin Multi-Portal Mobile App, please don't hesitate to reach out to the ICT Lead, Mr Adrien, at ict@lighthouse.edu.mu. Note: Nothing changes for web browsers. Above changes are only for those who use the mobile app on their phones.
