Dear Parents, Students and Caregivers,
I pray it has been a great first week of Term 2 for each of you. We are grateful that adjusting our timetables has allowed us to deliver excellent instruction with the least disruption.
This past week, Lighthouse faculty spent two days “upskilling” themselves. We spent many hours using data (examination results) to drive improvements in our teaching and to help us meet the needs of diverse learners. Lighthouse secondary teachers are also using tomorrow (Saturday) for more training on the top of “best practices” at an all-day teaching conference in the West. Our teachers will continually use Monday afternoons every week for professional growth, always with a goal in mind of improving student learning.
We look forward to a wonderful term ahead, filled with exciting events and activities. Some of these events are annual traditions like Sports Day, our Arts Festival, and our G7-G9 and G10-G13 Socials. We also plan to implement a few new events, including an International Food Faire and Music Day!
Parents/Caregivers: If you haven't joined our new CPL WhatsApp groups/ broadcast channels yet, you're missing out! We are excited to use these new communication channels to foster interaction among parents and strengthen our collaborative relationships. Here’s to a great term ahead!
Sincerely,
Zach Mulert
Head of Secondary
Weekly Secondary News
After School Sports Update
Our much anticipated After School Sports Program is on track to launch this term (consisting of volleyball, netball and football to begin). However, low levels of engagement requires that we have to open sign-ups one final time, so as to maximize participation!
Try-outs originally scheduled for May 21st and May 23rd have been delayed by one week to May 28th and May 30th so as to ensure that everyone who struggled to sign-up can still join! Sign up on EdAdmin - it is quick and easy. Final deadline for sign-ups will be next Friday, 24 May before try-outs begin the following week. No sign-ups will be considered after 24 May.
Personnel Update
We are happy to announce that Mr. “Deo” Hoolash has just joined our team to help teach our upper secondary business classes this term. Ms. Rachelle Marie has joined us as our Study Hall Coordinator.
