Dear Parents and Primary Students,
We would like to wish all our mothers a wonderful Mother's Day this weekend. We hope you will be spoiled and enjoy some well-deserved relaxation and appreciation for all that you do as a mother. We do honour you and appreciate your care and love for all of our children. We made a little video for you to brighten up your day - click here to watch!
As we move into this term, our school is focusing on two key values: resilience and integrity. For the first part of the term, we will emphasize resilience, teaching our students how to bounce back from challenges, handle stress, and stay motivated even when things get tough. We believe that resilience is a crucial skill that will benefit our students throughout their lives.
In the latter part of the term, our focus will shift to integrity. We will explore what it means to live with honesty and strong moral principles. Activities and lessons will be designed to help students understand the importance of being truthful and maintaining strong ethical standards in all areas of their lives.
Our spiritual formation theme for the next week is centred around the life of David. We will delve into his calling and heart, examining how his faith and character guided him through various trials and triumphs. This exploration will provide valuable lessons on leadership, faith, and perseverance.
We are also excited to share that this week's Sports and Clubs have started well. It’s wonderful to see the enthusiasm and energy that our children are bringing to these activities. Participating in sports and clubs is an excellent way for them to develop teamwork, discipline, and new skills.
Please don't miss out on Ms Flo's Edu blog on Assessment practice in our Primary school.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. We look forward to a productive and inspiring term ahead.
Warm regards,
Hannes van der Westhuysen
Head of Primary

One of Lighthouse's ongoing projects has been to create a FarmLab on our premises. Its objective is to provide a space for Lighthouse students, from Primary through to Secondary school, to learn about sustainable food growth and experiment with various methods of achieving this. At the moment, we have a vegetable garden (yes, some of our salad leaves, tomatoes and cucumbers used in the kitchen come from there!) and an aquaponics system.
Mr Damien Tanner is heading up this project and is looking for any volunteer who can help him make this project sustainable. No prior experience is required. Volunteers will be sowing, planting and trellising vegetables, composting and looking after the fish. The days to come and help are Mondays to Fridays (except Tuesdays) from 11:00 to 15:00. We would, ideally, like people who can be available on a regular basis.
Contact Mr Damien at damien.tanner@lighthouse.edu.mu to get involved - all ages welcome!
We've just received new books for our leveled reading collection and need help covering and stamping them. We're also seeking volunteers to connect with our Library and Learner Support teams. Our goal is to encourage our children to read as much as possible!
If you have time, a passion for reading, and enjoy listening to children read, we invite you to get involved. This is the perfect opportunity for you!
Contact Ms Flo at florence.thomas@lighthouse.edu.mu for more info.
