Mission

At Life Skills Preschool, we uphold a mission to provide structure and support for children to develop their full potential, respect the diversity and unique contributions of all and offer instruction that is individualized and developmentally appropriate. Life skills promotes a child-centered, safe and supportive environment, engages parents, the community and school members in a collaborative team-approach, and inspires a lifetime to learning. Our program seeks to provide education and related therapy to children with special needs in the least restrictive environment.

A least restrictive environment is a foundational element in building an appropriate education that can improve outcomes for a child—in school and in life. Opportunities for innovation, growth and creativity are crucial for our students; educational outcomes and successes. Each year, we plan to further advance our means of differentiating instruction, providing additional curricular supports, implementing socialization skills and adjusting the curriculum to improve cooperation, communication and decision-making skills. Life Skills Preschool is committed to providing a framework for developing confidence, setting goals, providing the tools and resources to establish cognitive, language, and social-emotional growth.

This year, we specifically plan to further advance our social emotional awareness and learning skills. Second Step Learning will be implemented in addition to our PBIS model. SEL concepts provide an extra dimension to our students’ education, focusing on improving cooperation, communication, and decision making. Life skills Preschool is committed to providing a framework for developing confidence, setting goals, collaboration and social-emotional development. A literacy action plan will help their children develop early language capabilities and contribute to their overall growth. Literacy is fundamental in developing our students thinking, learning and language development. Communal supports, extracurricular programs, and differentiated methods for instruction will continue to be implemented to heighten self-regulation skills, support social-emotional learning and address teaching self-awareness and self-management skills.
