The OAS aims to promote peace, security, and cooperation among the nations of the Americas, while upholding the shared values of democracy, human rights, and development. It works to support fair elections, transparency, and conflict resolution, monitors human rights, addresses regional security threats such as organized crime and terrorism, and promotes economic and educational initiatives to reduce inequality and improve living standards throughout the region.

I am Manuela Giraldo and I have the honor of being your cahirperson for the VIII edition of LPVMUN. I hope that the days of debate that we will develop help you improve your research and dialogue skills. It is important to make the debates a place where solutions are reached and in which the interests of the OAS and its fundamental bases prevail.
