Foscarini's Science

Conferences & More (ENG)

Welcome to the pages devoted to providing informations about the teaching of Science (be it Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics) at the Liceo Foscarini, in Venice, Italy.

These pages, permanently under construction, will also serve as a repository for past works from our students - and as a source of useful information for our friends and visitors. NEWS! Detailed CONFERENCE PROGRAMME and TRAVEL KIT suggestions available!

Let's get started with the latter: WHERE IS THE LICEO FOSCARINI LOCATED?

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL PARTICIPANTS TO THE ISSC 2018 CONFERENCE WILL BE ESCORTED FROM AND TO THE AIRPORT AND THEREFORE DO NOT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT LOCAL TRANSPORTATION

However, information on how to reach the Liceo Foscarini is available below.

You may ask HOW DO WE GET THERE? Here are some tips:

  • if you are travelling by plane by far the most convenient destination is the Aeroporto Marco Polo (VCE): to reach us from the airport one can either take the (possibly more spectacular but maybe not as easy) Alilaguna lines A or B and get down at the Fondamente Nove stop (also visible in the above map) or use the ATVO bus service to get to Piazzale Roma and then walk to our school;
  • please note that, while the boat is going to take a longer time, when choosing the bus you will have to walk for approximately 20-30 minutes (depending on your pace and some boundary conditions such as: the atmospheric conditions or the amount of tourists in your path) from Piazzale Roma to our location;
  • if you are travelling by bus or car the most likely event is that you will reach Piazzale Roma and walk from there to our school (boat service by ACTV is available but not always the best choice: it will not allow you to reach us in a shorter time, for instance, and it is definitely expensive for non-residents): be warned that parking rates in Piazzale Roma are not cheap!
  • if you have a hotel in Mestre there are plenty of solutions for you to reach Venice: the above-mentioned ACTV provides bus (and tram) services, and a train line connects the mainland to Venice, too (in case it is easy for you to reach the Venezia-Mestre train station);
  • regardless of the details of your arrival unless you reach us by boat (and get down at Fondamente Nove, see the first point) you will have to walk (or take a different, ACTV, boat - see the third point) you will have to walk from Piazzale Roma to the Liceo Foscarini: here is a useful map
