The Panther Most Valuable Swimmer Award isn’t always the fastest swimmer on the team but the most well-rounded. This swimmer sets an example and excels in each of the following categories:
Dedication - Gives 100% in the pool and in the classroom, maintains passing grades in all classes, and participates in 100% of all scheduled swim meets.
Respect - Of teammates, coaches, officials, volunteers, and other swimmers at all times.
Spirit - Must have good team spirit which is evident by helping others, encouraging teammates, and being positive.
Ability - Must be a strong swimmer who understands the fundamentals of all four strokes.
Named in honor of Coach Jeff Walker and awarded to the swimmer who sets the standard of a true athlete by handling both victory and defeat with dignity and grace. Swim sportsmanship is shown through the following examples:
Staying in the pool until all swimmers have completed the race.
Practicing good sportsmanship at all times by shaking the hands of the swimmers in neighboring lanes after a race.
Congratulating other swimmers and teams.
Never throwing swim goggles or a swim cap either in victory or defeat after a race.
Being mindful not to slap the water either in victory or defeat after a race.
Remembering to thank meet volunteers (timers and officials).
Awarded by the Captains to the swimmer whose leadership and dedication to the team was inspiring throughout the season. A lead by example swimmer.
Awarded by the Coach to the swimmer who is versatile in all four strokes and most coachable or puts the team over themself.
Awarded to the swimmer whose times/strokes improved the most throughout the season. This swimmer also consistently seeks out the coaches after each race for feedback and reflection.
Awarded to the swimmer who boosts everyone’s morale throughout the season. Who is always positive, helps others, and whose cheers are the loudest and proudest.
Awarded to the swimmer whose Freestyle never let the team down throughout the season.
Awarded to the swimmer whose Butterfly never ceased to amaze throughout the season.
Awarded to the swimmer whose Breaststroke always broke the surface throughout the season.
Awarded to the swimmer whose Backstroke came in strongest at the wall throughout the season.
