Safety First! We have very tight procedures about transportation changes, for the safety of your little ones. We will send your student home exactly as you indicated in the student’s Skyward Family Access profile. You will be able to make a change to your student’s transportation if switching from a bus rider to a car rider or vice versa via email before 1:00 p.m. and within 24 hours of the change request. The transportation email is BBEStransportationchanges@libertyhill.txed.net. Notes, phone calls, text messages, and emails sent to any other party other than the transportation email indicated above, will NOT be accepted. Any emails after 1:00 p.m. will not be processed by the campus. Please visit the transportation page on the LHISD district website for additional instructions and information.

Safety for your child is our first priority! We have a streamlined process to make sure the drop-off/pick-up process is safe and efficient. To make the process easier, please read and abide by all of the procedural instructions detailed below:

MORNINGS: Our doors open at 7:10 a.m., please do not leave your child unattended before this time. At 7:10 a.m., staff members are posted in the drop-off zones at the main front doors, gym, and art room doors to welcome your child and help direct them to their area. PreK-5th grade students will walk straight to class unless they need to stop in the cafeteria for breakfast. Remember, Burden Elementary does NOT allow parking lot drop-offs or walk-ups. All walkers must enter the building by the gray crosswalk.

Neighborhood bike riders and walkers are dismissed shortly after school ends. Staff will support street crossings. There is no longer any parent pick-up of walkers from the building. To ensure safety and maintain the flow of traffic, students are not allowed to walk to a vehicle parked on a side street. Gray walkers will be escorted to the crosswalk at Quarry Ln. and purple walkers will be escorted to the crosswalk at Stonewall Pkwy.

For the protection of our students and staff, we require that all visitors present a valid Driver’s License or another form of government-issued current photo ID before any visit or student contact (no exceptions!). District employees may show their active LHISD employee badge as ID.

We love feeding our children! Please make sure your child's cafeteria balances are up to date! Cafeteria balances can be checked at any time through Skyward Family Access.

We are excited to be able to celebrate student birthdays again this year. Please contact your child’s teacher one week before to discuss other student needs. We celebrate birthdays the last 15 minutes on Fridays. We don’t do balloons, gifts, deliveries, or guests for “parties” at school. Snacks must be prepackaged and store-bought. The office will also announce birthdays to all students this year through our morning announcements.

You MUST bring your valid I.D. in EVERY time you come to Burden Elementary to check out your child, otherwise you will not be allowed to check them out.

Students may not be signed out of school within fifteen minutes prior to the end of school dismissal time i.e. after 2:40 p.m. Please plan appointments accordingly.
