Geometry Syllabus

Course Description

Geometry is a course that utilizes the knowledge learned in Algebra 1 and uses it in Plane Geometry. The skills of radicals, solving systems of equations, writing and solving equations, and the usage of proper formulas from Alg 1 will be used quite extensively.

Goals/ Objectives

Students who successfully complete this course will be able to...

* Use variables, expressions, and equations to represent situations

* Apply formulas to find perimeter, area, surface area, circumference, and volume

* Use formulas to find distance, midpoint, or right angle properties

* Use properties of parallel / perpendicular lines to find unknown values

* Use triangle properties to compare triangles or find values of unknown parts

* Compare and identify quadrilaterals and polygons

* Use properties of similarity for comparison and finding unknown parts

* Use properties of congruency to find missing values

* Write, graph, and compare linear equations
