Software Requests

Goal: Lake Highland’s education technology hardware must be kept current and reliable. This will be done by procuring software aligned with LHP goals while managing it in an organized and cost-effective way.

Good Stuff to Know About the Software Request Process

  • All academic/instructional software, apps, and site license requests must be submitted directly to your Technology Integration Specialists via the LHP Software Request Form (scroll down to find it).

  • These requests will be reviewed (see the next section for detail) and approved by your Technology Integration Specialists in partnership with the Associate Directors of Curriculum & Instruction and the Director of Technology as needed.

  • Each year, the Technology Integration Specialists will analyze usage data and meet with faculty to discuss the renewal of annual subscriptions and/or site licenses to ensure the software we purchase is directly impacting instructional design and the learning experience.

  • LHP Software requests are solicited annually during the Spring Semester and must be submitted by the deadline in order to ensure time for review, purchase, and setup.

Please review our LHP Software List prior to submitting a request to ensure we do not already own licenses for the item you are requesting.

Submit the LHP Software Request Form below if...

  • You are interested in acquiring a license for yourself to software we already have.

  • You are interested in acquiring a NEW software license for software we do not already have.

The Review Process...What's Involved?

The following items are taken into consideration during the Software Request Review process:

  1. What are the learning needs and can this app/program meet them?

  2. What skills will our students practice/refine when using this app/program?

  3. Is there a better app that achieves the same purpose?

  4. Is there a comparable app/program at a better price point and/or something we already have a site license to?

  5. Does the app/program integrate with Classlink and/or Google for single sign-on?

  6. For MS/US, does the program interface well with Canvas?

  7. Can we easily set up the program to have your student rosters assigned for you?

  8. How does the program use student data? Is it COPPA and FERPA compliant?

  9. Is the tool age appropriate?

  10. Does the tool operate seamlessly with your classroom devices?

How Long Will It Take To Receive My Requested Material?

  • For Software Requests made during the annual solicitation request season, please allow for 2-3 weeks after the stated due date for a response regarding approval of the request due to the potential volume of requests. We will aim to work quickly!

  • Once approved, a member of your Technology Team will communicate with you regarding timeline for rostering your students (if applicable), setup of the software/subscription, and any necessary training.

  • For Software Requests made outside of the annual solicitation request season, please allow for 1-2 weeks after the season ends for the evaluation process to begin.

I Need to Make a Software Request Outside of the Budget Timeline. What Do I Do?

With new educational apps/web resources popping up that can provide opportunities to amplify creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and productivity, we want to keep the door open to try new things and innovate throughout the school year!

  • In an effort to provide funding for these innovation opportunities which include technology subscriptions, software and/or apps that were not requested through the traditional budget request process, you will still need to submit the LHP Software/Web Resource (SWR) Request.

  • Your Instructional Designers will need at least 1 week of lead time to evaluate the tool and approve your request.

  • If approved, your Instructional Designers will contact you after approval to communicate the expected timeline for purchase, setup, and any necessary training.

  • Please note, any software requests outside of budgetary season will be reviewed on a case by case basis. If not approved, you will be provided with other options and design ideas. The request can then be pushed to the following budget season.
