More than 2,000 pieces of clothing are included in the Young family collection - pieces shown on this page date from 1910-1920. Most of these pieces were worn by Martha Young and her daughter Annette Young; Annette donated them to the museum she founded to preserve Locust Grove, Locust Lawn, and her family's collections.

Ball gown, c. 1912. Chiffon and beaded net over pale pink satin, ice blue bow and sash at waist. Made by Mme. La Jotte, NYC, and worn by Annette Young to her brother Innis Young's Junior Promenade at Harvard, 1913.

Gown. 1916. Ivory silk with a pattern of pink, blue and yellow flowers. Trimmed with blue watered silk ribbon, and a corsage of pink roses.

Gown. 1917 Black silk taffeta with a design of pink roses, bodice with a wide bertha of ivory lace, skirt and bodice lined with olive silk. Made for Martha Young by Mme. La Jotte, NYC.

Dress. 1917. Beige taffeta with scalloped edging on bodice, jabot of beige lace; long sleeves. Annette Young remembered that this was the dress she wore at a party on February 2, 1917 - later that day the United States severed diplomatic relations with Germany as WWI began.
