Week of May 11- 15:
Well guys, this is it, the week we have prepared for all year. This is the week I stop bugging you. It's on you now. You need to prepare and take this exam on Friday. You know that there is a demo exam already posted that you need to run through now, before the real deal, to make sure all the technical stuff works and that you understand the process. You have been instructed how to do this but I am attaching the PowerPoint instructions on Google Classroom anyway. You know on the test date to login to the College Board by 12:30. You know the test will mostly center on Arrays. You know there are 2 main questions and that at 1:45 its over. You can do this. I have full confidence in each of you. Plan your time carefully. Eat lunch early. Get rest the night before. You know the drill.
Objective: To prepare for and then to celebrate learning with confidence as you complete the AP Exam.
How we will do it: Edhesive has put up a special unit 9.1 AP Exam Prep Covid Edition geared toward this unique test. Go through this unit in a serious manner this week. If you cannot access it for any reason you need to let me know.
Monday: Unit 9:1 Introduction, About the Revised Free Response Questions
Tuesday: Unit 9:1 1st FRQ Guidelines. This question on the exam will ask you to demonstrate your ability to:
write program code to satisfy method specifications using expressions, conditional statements, and iterative statements
write program code to create, traverse, and manipulate elements in 1D array or ArrayList objects
Wednesday: Unit 9:1 2nd FRQ Guidelines, Note Resources. This question on the exam will ask you to:
write program code to create objects of a class and call methods
write program code to satisfy method specifications using expressions, conditional statements, and iterative statements
Submit here one paragraph on your takeaway from this material and how it helped.
Thursday: Prepare as you see fit for the exam. On what do you need to concentrate?
Friday: Login to the College Board using your e-ticket at 12:30. Know that I am cheering you on and will want to hear all about it to the extent that you can talk about it.
Success: This is the culmination of everything we have done to this point. You have achieved the knowledge of coding arrays and and so much more and have demonstrated them well on this exam. It is time for a high five and a celebratory virtual pizza. You have exemplified Harry Truman in taking responsibility and ownership these last two months.
Week of May 4 - 8
I hope you all got away from your devices this weekend and did something you enjoyed. We went down to the ocean and saw the bio-luminescent waves on Saturday night. The ocean is my happy place so I enjoyed that.
Objective: We are getting close to the AP Exam. Everything now goes into practicing for it. Our goal this week is to improve the quality of our writing code, especially those that deal with arrays.
How we will do it:
Success: Not only is your work listed here complete but your confidence is growing in working with Arrays and you feel more prepared for the exam.
Week of April 26-May 1:
Hello - I hope you guys are doing okay. I hope you are finding a balance in life with school and with things you enjoy. I got out on Saturday and hiked 7 miles in the early morning before it got too hot. It is nice to be putting things like that back in my life. I'm aiming at a 20 mile day. It has been a while since I had time for that. What are you aiming at?
We are in the fourth quarter now with grades having posted for third quarter. The AP exam is in sight on May 15. Everything we do now will be to prepare for it.
Objective: To become more comfortable with writing code on free response questions and to become more accurate in that code.
How we will do it:
Monday - Codingbat AP-1. Do Numbers 6 and 7.
Tuesday - Coding bat Array-1. Do numbers 1 and 2.
Wednesday - ZOOM 9:30 a.m. The link will come with the reminder. Please be present.
Thursday - Codingbat AP-1. Do number 8
Friday - Codingbat Array-1. Do numbers 3 and 4.
Success is having your work caught up and done well. It is having practiced problems that will likely be similar to what is on the AP exam and have understanding of them.
Have a good week.
Week of April 20 - 24:
Monday: Please take Quiz 4. The access code is 'popcorn'.
Tuesday: Please begin Assignment 6.
Wednesday : Please complete Assignment 6.
Thursday: Please do the first five codingbat.com AP-1 problems. These are taken from old AP exams and will significantly help you prepare for the exam.
Friday: Choose one video from the list of College Board AP CSA videos. Watch it and write a paragraph on what was significant in it. I recommend this one for at least the first seven minutes. It explains the format of the test. It is okay to watch a different one, but catch what this is saying regarding the questions on the exam. Turn in the paragraph on Google Classroom.

Objective: To prepare for the AP Exam! In the process we will learn about two types of searches - binary and merge.
How:
Zoom call Wednesday at 9:30 for all of you. I have news regarding the test date and what it will look like. I will email the link to you.
Watch three of the College Board videos this week. Pick the ones that you feel will truly help you. Write a paragraph about each video. Submit it on Google Classroom. Include what you learned and where you still need help.
