About Mrs. Gantes
Hi 3rd Graders! I'm so excited to get to meet you all and have you get to know a bit about me!
I grew up in a town, not too far from El Cajon, called Escondido. After graduating high school I moved down to San Diego where I attended Point Loma Nazarene University. There I had the privilege of graduating summa cum laude with a degree in Education and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I was also able to spend a summer studying in Madrid, Spain where I first discovered my love for travel and learning from other cultures. It was amazing and challenging to experience what it's like to try and exist in a foreign country where your language skills are lacking at best. I loved every minute. I also had the opportunity to spend three weeks in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It was truly a life-changing experience and I would love to go back someday. I am still obsessed with travel and try to go some place new each year. I need some suggestions of where to go next! Give me some ideas :)
I just celebrated my 8 year anniversary with my husband this past summer! He does photography, graphic design, and is training to be a fire fighter! We love visiting new places together and taking on new adventures! Our favorite thing is eating good food together, going on hikes, and planning new trips :) Our latest adventure is PARENTHOOD! We just became parents to two sweet little kiddos this last November - Maurelle and Othello. Maurelle is in 2nd grade and Othello is 4 in preschool. They have changed our lives forever and we are so happy to have them in our lives. We look forward to formally adopting them this year! We also have a sweet little rescue pup who loves to cuddle named Frank! We love taking him on long walks and hikes around San Diego. He's pretty great and I hope you'll get to meet him at some point.
I taught 5th grade at the Junior Academy and the Liberty Academy for 9 years before coming over to the PA to teach 3rd grade. That means this will be my 12th year teaching!
That's enough about me. Now I can't wait to get to know all about you all!
My Mission For The Class
John Ruskin once said that, “when love and skill work together, expect a masterpiece.” My mission for my class is to get students excited about learning and to aid them in developing relevant skills for a successful future that they might become their own masterpieces and improve our world. Our class will be a place where students feel a sense of community and pride as we work together to succeed academically and socially.
