Welcome!

At Liberty High School we focus on respect, responsibility, integrity and grit. These values drive classroom interactions. In addition, the vision of mathematics at Liberty High School is to develop leaders who are equipped to meet the ever-changing challenges of the 21st century. This demands mathematical skills and understanding, along with the ability to use appropriate technology to problem solve. Our goal is to provide students with those skills so that they can be a positive influence in our society.

Classroom Culture:

At Liberty Charter High School, we strongly believe in growth mindset, the concept that anybody can learn anything. There is scientific evidence that the brain grows and becomes stronger through struggling by learning and correcting your mistakes. That means within our mathematics classrooms you will be asked to work hard on problems that seem difficult. We believe that not only can you do it, but you will grow in the process.

8 Mathematical Principles.

As we move onward in our implementation of the Common Core Standards, we will continue focusing on the 8 Mathematical Principles. These will be the driving principles behind the structure of our mathematical courses. These practices are the basis for success in mathematics.

  1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
  2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
  3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
  4. Model with mathematics.
  5. Use appropriate tools strategically.
  6. Attend to precision.
  7. Look for and make use of structure.
  8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
