Weekly Newsletter
Dear Parents,
It's hard to believe we're already in October and on our 8th week of school! The students had a fantastic time last week learning about Fire safety and creating firefighters! You can see their wonderful art in our hallway!
Pumpkin Patch Day-On Friday, October 23rd (the last day before fall break), we'll celebrate with Pumpkin Patch Day! Students will enjoy pumpkin-themed activities in PE, the library, and our classroom. The day will wrap up with treats on the playground and time to enjoy our Pumpkin Patch together.
We'll be creating our Pumpkin Patch the week before and would love for each student to contribute a pumpkin! Please send a pumpkin that's big enough to decorate but small enough for your child to carry independently. Students may bring pumpkins starting Monday, October 19th. Please write your child's name near the stem so they can easily find it on Friday when we decorate and send them home. Students are also welcome to dress like a farmer or cowboy/cowgirl that day—think jeans, plaid shirts, bandanas, cowboy hats, boots, pigtails, or braids. I am looking forward to this fun day!
Folders: Thank you for returning folders on Fridays! This really helps our parent volunteers collect completed homework and prepare new packets. Each week, I'm sending home reading books for you to keep at home—store them in a zip-lock bag and read them as often as possible. Reading practice is essential for school success. Research shows that children who read and are read to frequently have greater academic achievement. Also, please practice the sight words included in the homework packet, as mastering these words is crucial for your child's overall reading development. I suggest getting some index cards and writing the words on them for your child to practice and review. Please also have your child’s folder in their backpack every day as we might need to send home important letters.

Character Corner for October: Failure Leads to Success
Question of the Week: Choose one challenging task for your child this week and help them learn to master it. Whether it's making their bed, getting dressed independently, tying shoes, buckling their car seat, or writing their name—whatever it may be, support them in succeeding at it this week.
This month, we're discussing how failure leads to success and how this builds courage, hope, and grit. In kindergarten, our motto is "I can do it if I try again!" At home, you can support this lesson by allowing your child to work through difficult tasks, even when they struggle.
As always, feel free to contact me via email at marcely.kinsey@lfcsinc.org.
Have a great week!
