My name is Cristina A. Garcia, and I am proud to serve as your School Counselor.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in EC–4 Bilingual Education from the University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College, as well as a Master of Science in Professional School Counseling from Angelo State University. My 13 years in education include experience as a substitute teacher, bilingual teacher, and school counselor.

I am excited to partner with our students, staff, and families to make this school year a wonderful one! Together, we can help every student feel supported, build confidence, and grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

My name is Cynthia Barrera, and I am a proud split counselor for LES & PLE.

I am a dedicated educator with 22 years of experience supporting students across diverse learning environments. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Brownsville, now part of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), and my master’s degree in school counseling from Lamar University.

Throughout my career, I have served as a paraprofessional in grades 7–8, a fourth-grade bilingual teacher, a special education teacher in grades 3–8, and a GEAR UP facilitator supporting students from 10th grade through their first year of college. These experiences have shaped my commitment to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally while preparing them for future success.

I look forward to a wonderful year of learning, growing, and working with our amazing students and families!
