Theresa Taylor
"Mrs.T"
I am the teacher of the extended day preschool disabled class (XPSD). I also co-direct the 8th grade play with Ms. Nicholson in the spring.
Along with being an educator, I am a former military wife (my husband is retired after serving our country for 25 years in the United States Coast Guard), as well as a Mom of 4 grown children!
I have been teaching for many years, most of them in the preschool/preschool special education field. Raising a military family brought game me the opportunity to live and raise my family in Maine, on Governors Island, Staten Island and in NJ where we ultimately settled.
This gave me the chance to teach in a group home and also assist in conducting preschool developmental screenings in Maine, teach in Brooklyn,NY and in other areas of NJ. I came to Little Ferry in September of 2005, where I continue to enjoy teaching my students as well as have the opportunity to see them grow over the years!
I received my BA from Felician University in Elementary Education and Special Education, with a concentration in early childhood. My Master's Degrees are an MS in Special Education from Dominican College and an MA in Educational Leadership from FDU. I have also furthered my education in early childhood leadership and reading instruction.
I believe that all children are Children First! We must accept each one of them as individuals and use their strengths in order to assist them in developing areas that they find more challenging. Each child is a unique individual with abilities and challenges that are their own. A positive, nurturing learning environment can enable a child to grow to the best of his/her potential.
It important educators, child study teams, administrators and families work together with the best interest of the children in mind.
If educators present every life experience as one you can learn from, create an interesting and exciting learning environment and exhibit a love of learning themselves, then students are more likely to learn and explore in all aspects of their lives as well as in school!
I look forward to a fun and exciting school year of learning and growing together!
