STEPS 4 SUCCESS

This course is the first step in the process of creating your personal plan toward a successful future. We will create an MCIS account for each student that they can use to track their personal growth through the process. We will begin the discussion of what options are available for college and career choices after graduation. This will be the foundation for the next three years of Career and College planning.
EXPLORATORY 9
No. 1975 | Course Credit .5 (2 credits for the year) | Grade Level: 9
Exploratory 9 is a course set up to give all 9th grade students the opportunity to try out various areas within the Career & Technical Education area, and the Art department. During this course students will move through eight different content areas; Agricultural Science, Natural Resources, Art, Automotive, Business, Culinary, Manufacturing, and Woods. Each student will have 2 areas per quarter, allowing them to experience all eight areas. In each rotation teachers will talk about Careers in that area, and other courses offered in that area to help students see what other options are available to them. Below are the specific areas and what students will experience during the rotations and activities they will complete.
CAREER EXPLORATION

Career Exploration is a course that will allow you to learn more about all the career options available to you. You’ll spend time looking more deeply into programs of study, schooling options, financial aid, and budgeting. This course is set up in a way that all students can research their own interests and goals. If you are still searching for what you are going to do after high school, this course is here to give you time to plan, research and learn all that is available to you. We will not only look at colleges, but we will also investigate the military and what it takes to head into the workforce. This class can help you realize what skills you need to successfully get a job. Lastly, this course will help you navigate through all the paths to reach your goals.
ON THE JOB TRAINING (OJT)

No. 1632 | Course Credit: 2 Per Semester | Grade Level: 12
This is an excellent opportunity for students to earn credit for graduation while working at a job during or after school hours that will allow them to explore career areas and develop real life job skills that will be beneficial to their future employment and education. Juniors are able to earn up to two credits per year (1 hour/day; seniors are able to earn up to four credits per year (2 hours/day) Mrs. Nagel is the coordinator of this class. Please see her to make the required arrangements. See Mrs. Nagel or Mrs. Grant for registration numbers.
SENIOR INTERNSHIP
No. 1641 | Course Credit: 1-3 Per Semester | Grade Level: 12
The LFCHS Senior Internship Experience is an extended internship offering seniors the opportunity to gain first hand exposure to a career field they are considering pursuing after high school. Paired with committed industry participants from our local area, each student will be assigned a mentor within the workplace who will guide the internship experience. This is more than a job shadow as students will be expected to contribute meaningful, relevant work mirroring that of an authentic position in the field.
Students participating in the senior internship experience may register for one semester or two and must be available to intern for three hours per day, four days per week. Students may elect to intern in the same field for both semesters or may choose differing field experiences for each semester. This real-world experience is being offered to seniors who are currently on track to graduate. Interested students must register with Mrs. Grant in the guidance office, where registration numbers will be provided.
CDL - ELDT (Entry Level Drivers Training)

LFCHS offers the Classroom portion of the CDL Endorsement steps. In this course you have the opportunity to learn basic operation of a CDL vehicle, pre-trip inspection, safe operating procedure, advance operating procedures, vehicle systems and malfunctions, and non-driving activities, along with time in the CDL simulator. Students will need to find their own behind the wheel instruction after they complete their ELDT (Entry Level Drivers Training), no behind the wheel instruction will be given. It will be a reading/classwork intensive class. If your future does include needing a CDL endorsement, this course not only will help you gain the needed knowledge but save you money. Juniors turning 18 before the end of their junior year are allowed to take the class.

INTRODUCTION TO AVIATION
No. 1725 | Course Credit: .5 | Grade Level: 11-12
Interested in flying? This course is focused on the knowledge and skills that are involved with flying, and servicing airplanes. There is so much more to flying than jumping in a plane and soaring away. In order to be successful as a pilot, strong math, science and geography skills are required. This course will open your eyes to the world in the skies and prepare you for the Private Pilot License Knowledge Exam. We will also practice practical flight skills in the school's flight simulator. If you are unsure about becoming a pilot, but you would still like to learn about aviation, this is a great opportunity. (You must register for both courses.)
AVIATION - GROUND SCHOOL
(Prerequisite: No. 1725)
No. 1725A | Course Credit: .5 | Grade Level: 11-12
In this course, students will take their knowledge and experiences from Introduction to Aviation as they work to complete a ground school course in order to successfully pass the FAA knowledge test to begin the process of obtaining a private pilots license and begin a career as an aviator.. We will also practice practical flight skills in the school's flight simulator. If you are unsure about becoming a pilot, but you would still like to learn about aviation, this is a great opportunity.
INTRO TO EDUCATION (College Course)
No. 3734 I Course Credit: 1 I Grade Level: 11-12
This class will introduce students to the broad field of education including a focus on children and families, the role of the teacher, the role of schools and educational programs in communities and the broader society, history and philosophy of education, educational futures, teacher education knowledge base, and contemporary issues. Includes field experience.
FLYER PUBLISHING
No. 1940 | Course Credit .5 – 3 quarter class | Grade level 10 -12
This course was formerly known as the Yearbook. We are now opening up the yearbook publishing to all students. The Flyer yearbook takes a lot of time and work to create, and we invite anyone that is interested in editing, proofing, photography, story writing, or just creating to sign up and help make the Flyer Yearbook amazing!

FLYER LEADERSHIP
Course Credit .5 | Grade Level: 11, 12 - See Mrs. Siemieniak
Prerequisites: Application required, Students must be enrolled in on-campus classes for at least half of the school day to fulfill leadership responsibilities.
What does leadership look like in everyday life, and how will you lead in your future? This quarter-long course develops practical leadership skills that extend far beyond high school. Through hands-on experience, self-reflection, and community engagement, students will discover their own leadership style and learn how to make a positive impact wherever life takes them. Students will explore effective communication, team dynamics, ethical decision-making, and servant leadership while applying these skills through mentoring opportunities and community projects. Whether you're headed to college, the workforce, military service, or another path, this course prepares you to lead with confidence and purpose.
