What: The Makerbot Replicator+ is a 3D printer capable of printing designs out of PLA Plastic. This process takes between 1 and 8 hours.
Safety: Do not touch 3D printers while they are running. Extruders are HOT. Wear safety glasses when removing support plastic.
Interested in 3-D Printing ?
First, you must create something to print. There are free tools to help you create a 3-D design on your computer.
Whether you're a beginner, or if you feel comfortable designing something more elaborate, there are plenty of options.
Helpful Hints: Allow 2 weeks for 3D printing for items with a due date.

For Beginners:
TinkerCad - Create a free web-based account to use at school or home.
Thingiverse - This is a library of ready to print models. (We prefer you MAKE your own designs)
For Intermediate / Advanced Users:
Autodesk Inventor - Create complex solids with this professional Software. This software is web-based thanks to ericom and our talented tech team. Sign in with your Leyden credentials.
Make sure your design fits! Size Limits for our machines are: 11" x 7" x 6" or 4" x 5" x 5" (Mini)
Create a design using design software (TinkerCAD, Inventor, or Thingiverse)
Save file as .STL
Log into the MakerBot PC in the makerspace with your Leyden credentials.
Open MakerBOT Print (If you are asked to login to the software you can use Username: leydenmakerspace Password: Leyden212!)
Open .STL file
Change settings as need such as speed and supports (read about Settings HERE)
Print (takes 1-8 hours)
Pick up your part. Don't forget to come back to get your part as soon as it finishes. If you have trouble finding teh print please notify the circulation desk.
Want a different color? Object can be painted with acrylic paints (outside of the Makerspace)
What: The Soyan 3D Pen allows you to create and modify 3D designs. This tools works like a hot glue gun. It pushes out hot plastic which fuses with existing plastic.
Safety: DO not touch the tip of the 3D pen while they are running. Extruders are HOT. Wear safety glasses while using the 3D pen. Do not touch the creation for 2-3 minutes until it has cooled.
Put on Safety Glasses.
Plug in AC Adapter to pen
Press Wire feed button
Pen will preheat (red LED)
After 2 minutes the LED will turn Green
Insert Plastic into wire loading hole
Press the down button until the unit beeps
Control the speed of plastic extrusion with the slider.
Have Fun!
Unload filament before returning unit
Clean up!
