About Mr. May
This will be my 21st year of teaching. I have a Bachelors Degree in both Business Administration (Concord University) and Elementary Education (West Virginia State). I also have a Masters in Educational leadership from Stetson University. I am currently working towards my drone pilot's license to start the newest PWLT course at CIS for Flight and Space. This is my 8th year in South Carolina with LexRich 5. Before moving to South Carolina, I taught for 11 years in Orlando Florida as a 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade teacher. I was also the upper elementary Assistant Principal for Florida Virtual School for two years.
Outside of the classroom, I’m a husband to a fellow teacher at CES and a proud father of three active boys in 9th, 7th, and 3rd grade. When I’m not teaching, you’ll likely find me on the sidelines of a soccer field, at a Taekwondo studio, or cheering at a swim meet—sports are a big part of our family life.
In the classroom, I believe every student deserves to feel safe, engaged, and valued as an individual learner. My goal is to support each child in reaching their fullest potential—not just academically, but as kind and contributing members of our Chapin community. I’m excited and ready for an aMAYzing year with the 5th and 6th graders at CIS!
