Writing Proficiency Expectations
Parents . . . below you will find the D5 Reading and Writing Proficiency Expectations Reports. These are the same ones that go home each quarter with your child's report card. Looking through your child's grade level reading and writing proficiency expectations:
1) Provides you (the parent) a clear picture of your child's growth and how their reading and writing skills build year by year,
2) Provides you (the parent) an understanding of the support your child should be receiving at school, and at home,
3) Provides you (the parent) a clearer understanding of what is expected of your child as a reader and writer. Proficiency expectations include and emphasize the importance of decoding, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and writing.
