Hola y benzenoids!

I am originally from Colombia, South America, and have been living in South Carolina for 20 years. My journey teaching in the United States began with the opportunity to teach Spanish at an elementary school, an experience that allowed me to immerse myself in a new culture while growing both personally and professionally.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling and feel fortunate to share these adventures with my husband, who is my greatest travel companion. I also value quiet moments - great coffee, long walks, and historical novels. Visiting my family is deeply meaningful to me, and I treasure every opportunity to create lasting memories with them despite the distance.

With a little over two decades of teaching experience, I am excited to begin my first year at Chapin High School. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching students across all grade levels, including the college level. Each group of students has left a unique and lasting impact on my journey as an educator. In addition to teaching Spanish, I have also taught ESOL, which has further strengthened my passion for supporting multilingual learners.

My academic journey began at Universidad Pedagógica in Colombia, where I earned a degree in Teaching English and Spanish as a Second Language. Seeking further growth, I pursued a Master’s degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). Later, I deepened my expertise by completing a second Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning the Spanish Language and its Culture, studying at the Universidad de Granada in Spain.
