Welcome to Kindergarten! I am Mrs. Traynham and I am so excited to be your teacher this year.
This is my first year on staff at IES, but I’ve been a part of the Hive for years. I have substituted here for several years, and I have three kids who are all Irmo Bees. My family consists of myself, my husband, and our three daughters Abby, Molly, and Olivia. Sometimes I think my house is a zoo, because in addition to my family, it is also home to two dogs (Rose and Lucy), one cat (Mab), and one bearded dragon (Henry). I never imagined I'd love a lizard, but Henry won me over. He is very cute!
I got my Masters of Teaching from USC Columbia in 2006 and since then I have taught everything from 4K to 12th grade. Immediately out of college, I taught for several years at two different schools and covered many different levels of middle and high school social studies. Once my oldest was born, I left the classroom for a while, but began subbing and volunteering at the preschool my girls attended. That turned into a job as a full-time 4K teacher and I discovered a joy of teaching I'd never felt with the older kids. As my children grew, I followed them to IES as a substitute (often long-term) teacher. This school is an amazing place to bee! Getting the opportunity to be a full-time bee is a dream, and working with students at the beginning of their educational journey is an absolute honor. We are going to have an outstanding year!
