My name is Julie Klemz. I am a graduate of Monroe County Community College (Associate's Degree 1991), Michigan State University (Bachelor's Degree 1993), and Eastern Michigan (Master's Degree 1997). My Master's Degree is in Special Needs. I earned by Masters Plus 30 Teacher Classification in 2024. I received my ZS (Early Childhood) Endorsement in 2020, my R2S Literacy Endorsement in 2022, my Poverty Endorsement in 2023, and my Talented and Gifted Endorsement in 2024.  I became Nationally Board Certified in December of 2025. This is my thirty-fourth year of teaching, and my sixth year at Harbison West Elementary. I love being a part of the Harbison West family of heroes! My family moved to South Carolina from Michigan in the summer of 2021. We are so excited to be living in the South with you all! My husband, Kent and I are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, Darby, age 24 and Lexi, age 22.  Darby graduated from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!)in May of 2024 and is an associate campus recruiter for Belk at their corporate headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina. Lexi graduated from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) in May 2026 and is currently interning in the Atlanta Braves training program in their Corporate Sponsors and Partnerships division. We have a family dog, Taffy, who is 1 1/2 years old. I enjoy spending time with my family, exercising, traveling, baking, cooking, shopping, and of course teaching children!
