I am so excited to be your child's kindergarten teacher this year! I have taught in both public and private schools in both SC and Georgia. I was also blessed to be able to stay at home with my own children for many years in the middle of my teaching career. This is my sixth year at Irmo Elementary School and my first year in kindergarten. I have taught third grade at IES for the past five years but before that taught 4-year-old preschool. I am thrilled to be going back to my true love of teaching the littles! I am truly blessed be able to follow my dreams and be a teacher. I love seeing the joy and excitement in a child's eyes when they discover something new. The "lightbulb moments" are my favorite!
I have been married for 24 years, and my husband, Dr. Grant, teaches also (he teaches teachers instead of little kids). We have three girls: a recent graduate from Lipscomb University who just started her "big girl" job, a senior at Winthrop University who will graduate in May, and an 11th grader at IHS. We also have a 3-year-old yorkie named Cosmo. When I'm not teaching I love to read, spend time with my family, do word searches and puzzles, and spend time in the mountains when I get a chance.
