My name is Katie Grant. I am so excited to be your child's kindergarten teacher this year! I have taught in both public and private schools in both SC and Georgia. I was also blessed to be able to stay at home with my own children for many years in the middle of my teaching career. This is my seventh year at Irmo Elementary School and my second year in kindergarten. I have taught grades 4K through 3rd grade. I am also a USC Master Coaching Teacher. We will be blessed to have a student teacher in our classroom during the second semester this year.
My true love is teaching the littles! I love seeing the joy and excitement in a child's eyes when they discover something new. The "lightbulb moments" are my favorite!
I have been married for 25 years, and my husband, Dr. Grant, teaches also (he teaches teachers instead of little kids). We have three girls: a recent graduate from Lipscomb University who just started her "big girl" job as a computer/electrical engineer in TN, a student at USC that is working on her masters degree in social work, and a senior at IHS. All of my children have gone to Irmo schools and graduated from here. We also have a 5-year-old yorkie named Cosmo. When I'm not teaching I love to read, spend time with my family, do word searches and puzzles, and spend time in the mountains when I get a chance.
