About Ms. McCraw

Hello,

I am thrilled for the opportunity to be a part of the Chapin Middle School community. I graduated from Appalachian State with double degrees in Social Studies, History Education and Dance Studies. This unique combination reflects my passion for bringing history to life in the classroom. 

Originally from Greensboro, North Carolina, I lived in Charleston, South Carolina before settling into my current teaching role. I taught high school before transitioning to middle school, where I now have the privilege to work with 7th graders as they explore the past to better understand the present. 

When I am not in the classroom, you will most likely find me outdoors, preferably near the water or in the mountains. I love taking in the beauty of nature, whether that means spending a day at the Isle of Palms, exploring Lake Murray, driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway, or simply finding a place to slow down, feel the breeze, and soak up the sunshine. I am also a dedicated coffee enthusiast and love discovering new local coffee shops. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, staying active, watching everything from Friends and Seinfeld to action-packed thrillers and Marvel movies, traveling, reading, journaling, and enjoying life with my one-year-old German Shepherd, Marco. Above all, I value time with my fiancé, family, and friends and feel incredibly grateful for the memories and laughter we share. 

My pursuit of a career in education is driven by a calling and commitment to empowering future generations. Students are the reason I show up to school each day eager to teach and ready to learn. My classroom is grounded in a contagious mindset of growth, resilience, critical thinking, and creativity. Together, we will encourage each and every student to become a lifelong learner, community leader, and informed citizen ready to make a positive impact on the world.
