I was raised in the small town of South Lyon, Michigan located south of Detroit. I am the first college graduate in my family. I grew up listening to my family tell stories of the war (World War II) and I fell in love with history. I have the gift of storytelling as my Irish- Scottish, French, and Canadian ancestors before me. I studied in France in high school. I married an army soldier (from California) and began teaching in North Carolina. We have 5 sons; two serve in the military, twins who are apprentices in trade and youngest is 9th grade. I have two dogs and a cat. I love to spend time on the lake since I grew up swimming, canoeing and camping. I enjoy painting and currently working on a series of beach scenes. I am usually reading about 4 different books at the same time over various genres like fiction, historical fiction, fantasy and time travel.
I aspire every year to create a welcoming class culture. I love history but I love teaching children of all ages. I hope to inspire some curiosity in history and the studying of it. I look forward to teaching your student this year.
