I have worked with children since I was a teenager. First, as a lifeguard and swim teacher, followed by after school and summer care programs at Peterson Presbyterian for many years. My career in education began teaching Fourth Grade and Preschool, before attaining my graduate degree.

I have a Masters in Library Information Science from the University of South Carolina and 17 years experience. My undergraduate degree is a BAIS in Elementary Education, but I also have a certificate in Early Childhood Education. I acquired National Board status in 2003.

I enjoy writing in my spare time and my favorite projects are middle grade novels of historical fiction and fantasy. I am a long-distance runner and find it a good excuse to travel. The most exciting marathon I have run was in Big Sur, California with 26.2 miles along the Pacific Ocean!

My husband and I are blessed with two wonderful sons, Jake and Josh. We enjoy spending time together on Lake Murray, going to the beach, and visiting National Parks. I look forward to teaching your sweet children! If there is anything you need from our library, please let me know.
