I have worked in public education at the middle school, high school, and university levels for over 20 years. I started my career as a high school English teacher and middle school ELA and Social Studies teacher. I worked for the Office of Student Disability Services at the University of South Carolina. I was a high school counselor in North Charleston for five years and have been at CrossRoads Intermediate since 2012. I received an Educational Specialist degree in Counselor Education from the University of South Carolina in May 2007. I am certified as a School Counselor for k-12. I am a National Board Certified Teacher in School Counseling, Licensed Professional Counselor, and I have also earned my GCDF as a Career Development Facilitator. I love working with sixth grade students; it is such a transitional time for children. I believe in having a comprehensive school counseling program in place which is based on the American School Counseling Association National Model. It is my goal to fully implement a program that is preventative in nature and meets the needs of the students and families of our unique population where “children are cherished and challenged.”
I grew up in the area and graduated from Irmo High School. I have a son who attends Harbison West Elementary School. We enjoy swimming, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. I look forward to him being here as a CrossRoads student next year!
