Hello, I'm Kirsten McClam. I grew up in Eastover, South Carolina, and have 11 years of experience as an elementary school resource teacher. I graduated from Clemson University in 2014 with a degree in Special Education and have completed National Board Certification as an Exceptional Needs Specialist. I've also finished LETRs Training (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling).
This is my fourth year at Chapin Elementary School, where I teach resource. Previously, I taught at Ballentine Elementary and Springdale Elementary. My favorite part of teaching is witnessing the joy when students learn something new, especially when they learn to read. Throughout this school year, I will implement instructional strategies and curricula to meet your child's specific needs.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Cole, our two boys, Drakeford (5 years old) and Weathers (2 years old), and our Labrador Retriever, Bear. We love boating on Lake Murray as a family. I also enjoy gardening and shopping.
I'm excited for the opportunity to teach your child during the 2025-26 school year!
