My name is Kirsten Gorny, and this is my eighth year teaching at HECES. I graduated from the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I also earned my Masters Degree in Teaching and Learning with a specialization in Instructional Coaching from Clemson University (Go Gamecocks!). I believe in lifelong learning and that knowing the hearts of children personally and academically fosters authenticity in relationships and instruction. 

Irmo is my hometown, and I am a graduate of Dutch Fork High School. My husband, Todd, and I are blessed with our beautiful little girl, Lily, and our Golden Retriever, Wesley. My family means the world to me! When I’m not teaching, I enjoy traveling, being in nature, exercising, and spending time with family and friends. I love to ride my bike, watch and play most sports, and go snow skiing too!

Teaching is my passion, and I look forward to a fantastic year of leading and learning!
