Hello! I am Jennie Burns and I am thrilled to be your child's art teacher! I have been teaching at Leaphart for 17 years! I grew up in Irmo and am a proud product of Lexington/Richland School District 5 schools! I received my degree in Art Education from the University of South Carolina. GO Gamecocks!! And also have my National Board Certification.
In my classroom, I emphasize the importance of the creative process. We focus on exploring different materials, techniques, cultures and artist to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression.
Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time with my little girl Marley, traveling (especially to see Taylor Swift concerts) and photography!
