Mrs. Dalene Gibson
Room Number
I was born in Indiana and I have lived in Irmo since I was 10 years old. I graduated from Irmo High School in 1991. In 1995, I graduated from Winthrop University and have been in the classroom since! I have been at Dutch Fork Elementary for 27 years!
I married my husband, Grant, in 1998. We have one daughter, Jalin, who attends Dutch Fork High school(a junior) and is a Level 9 competitive gymnast. When I am not at DFES, I LOVE to read and travel all over the USA. Two of my most favorite places are New York City and Disney World. My family enjoys playing board games and going to USC sporting events. I am active in my church, participate in a book club, enjoy crafting, organizing and going thrifting. I also LOVE Broadway musicals and eating Mexican food! If I was not a teacher (or when I retire) I would be interested in being a travel agent and helping people plan amazing trips!
Even after all of these years, I still love my job and being in a classroom with students. I love teaching and truly building a class family in room 15! I work really hard building a community to help each student feel loved and comfortable sharing and also comfortable making mistakes, which I teach them leads to growth. I do set high expectations behaviorally and academically for my students. My goal is to help each and every student grow emotionally and academically each year. I am my student’s biggest cheerleader and advocate and truly push them to be the best student/child that I know they can be.
