Color Wheel
with Found objects

  • For an artist, the color wheel is an important tool because it shows the relationship between colors. Think of it as a family tree for colors, how they are related, mixed, and put together to form color schemes.

  • Create a color wheel using found objects from around the house. Toys, clothes, shoes, food, and anything else could be used to create your color wheel.

  • Snap a pic, send it to scowan@lexrich5.org, and make sure you clean it all up when you're finished!

Found Object Plate Portrait

A portrait is an artwork depicting a person, but focusing mainly on the face. Portraits do not always have to be drawn, but can also be made using found objects from around the house.

  1. Pick a plate and collect an array of objects from your house including small toys, kitchen items, office supplies, and more!

  2. Identify parts of the face and sort the items into categories such as eyes, nose, mouth, hair, ears and such

  3. Create a portrait using objects. Move the items around to see what works best!

  4. Take a photo and send it to scowan@lexrich5.org so I can see your creative one-of-a-kind portraits!

  5. Return all items where they belong.
