I am thrilled to be part of the Chapin Middle School family! I am a National Board Certified Teacher with 15 years of experience teaching ELA, and I truly love helping students become stronger readers, writers, and thinkers.
I am a proud graduate of Dutch Fork High School (Class of 2006) and the University of South Carolina (Class of 2011). My teaching journey began at Carolina Springs Middle School where I discovered how much I loved working with middle school students and helping them find confidence in their voices.
After my first year of teaching, I had the opportunity to help open a brand-new school, Meadow Glen Middle School. I spent six years learning, growing, and being part of an amazing Expeditionary Learning (EL) community. EL is all about creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences where students ask questions, collaborate, solve real-world problems, and take ownership of their learning. That experience shaped the way I teach and reinforced my belief that students learn best when they are curious, challenged, and truly connected to what they are doing.
I then returned home to District 5 and joined the Irmo Middle School family. I taught English 1 Escolares, served as the ELA Department Chair for grades 6–8, and had the opportunity to grow as a leader alongside an amazing team.
My journey then brought me to Chapin Middle School (now Spring Hill Middle), where I served as an ELA PLC Leader and continued doing what I love most, helping students grow as readers, writers, and thinkers.
Now at the NEW Chapin Middle School, I am excited to begin this next chapter, build lasting connections, and make a positive impact in the community I am proud to call home.
Outside of school, you can find me with a book in hand, gardening, relaxing at the beach, or spending time at home with my husband, toddler, and labradoodle. On the weekends, we love heading to the lake and cheering on the Gamecocks!
