Welcome!
The library is here to help students learn through reading, research, and resource assistance. In addition to class checkouts, book talks, storytimes, and collaborative lessons, the library also oversees school-wide reading programs such as book fairs, author visits, the SC book awards, and more!
Volunteers are Welcome!
We would love to have help shelving books or help with book fairs. If you are an approved volunteer and would like to help out in the library, please send me an email. If you have not been approved yet, please call the front office.
Hours of Operation:
The library media center is open from 7:15 AM - 3:00 PM on school days.
All classes visit the library each week with the exceptions of school testing weeks, book fairs, author visits, or additional school scheduling conflicts. Students in Grades 3-4 may check out two books at a time. PreK, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd-grade students may check out one book at a time.
Overdue/Lost/Damaged Items:
Books are overdue after 2 weeks but can be renewed for more time if needed.
Overdue notices will be sent home to parents monthly.
If a book has been significantly damaged or is lost, library staff will send home a notice with the cost of the book to be replaced, and the fee will be added to the student's online account. This fee can be paid online at https://www.studentquickpay.com/lexrich5/Default.aspx. The library can not accept cash or check.
This is to ensure that the library-bound edition can be ordered by the librarian for replacement.
PreK-1st grade students are given a plastic Ziploc bag to help transport library books back and forth.
*NOTE: #1 reason for book damage = water damage from water bottles!
Student Behavior Policy:
The behavior policy enforced in the library aligns with the CES school-wide expectations. Students are encouraged to be good listeners, kind to books, and respectful of others in the library.
