Physical Education
My name is Caitlin Vaughn, and I am excited to spend this school year in Physical Education! This marks my first year teaching P.E. after spending 12 years in the classroom, including one year in second grade and 11 years in third grade. I am especially grateful to continue as a part of the Harbison West family as I transition into this new role.
I am an honors graduate of the University of South Carolina Beaufort, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. While attending USCB, I served as captain of the softball team—Go Sand Sharks! In April 2016, I earned a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Reading and Literacy from Walden University, graduating with honors. Since then, I have added a certification in Physical Education and an endorsement in Teaching Children of Poverty.
In 2016, I had the opportunity to establish and coach Harbison West's first-ever boys' basketball team in partnership with Seven Oaks Park. In 2022, we expanded the program by adding a girls' team, which advanced to the championship game in its inaugural season. At Harbison West, I am also actively involved with Project Au-Some, Extra Inning Club, and the LEGO Legends enrichment cluster.
I am honored to have been selected as Harbison West Elementary School's Teacher of the Year for the 2018–2019 school year. I look forward to helping students grow both physically and personally while encouraging them to reach their highest potential through our H.E.R.O. traits: being hard-working, empathetic, respectful, and open-minded.
