Dr. Dowdy joined the Academy in 2005 as the high school mathematics teacher. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Consumer and Family Science from Purdue University, a Master of Science degree in Divergent Learning from Columbia College, and an Education Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of South Carolina.    

Dr. Dowdy loves both college and professional football and all things Boilermaker and Gamecocks.  She enjoys cooking and sewing.  Dr. Dowdy is married to the Shrimp Guy (purveyor of fresh seafood in the area) and has a son and daughter who are also involved in the family business.
