Welcome!
Hello! My name is Steffi Johnson and I am so excited to be your child’s first grade teacher this year! I can’t wait to spend each day making learning fun, witnessing the academic and personal growth of your children, and creating memories with our classroom family. I believe first grade is a very special age, and am committed to prioritizing building a love of learning in my students. I am also thrilled to be your partner in your child's educational journey. We are going to have the best year together at Ballentine!
I graduated from Clemson University with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and my Master of Arts in Teaching with a focus on Early Childhood. Go Tigers!!!! I am from Chapin and love spending quality time with my friends and family, being on the lake, reading, and playing tennis. I grew up attending elementary, middle, and high school in District 5 and feel so blessed to teach in the area I call home.
I believe schools are a place to form connections and foster relationships. I will guide my students every day to be their best - through love, high expectations of academic work and effort, and a strong classroom community. Kindness, positive attitudes, respect, and hard work will be the main components of our classroom dynamics.

“Teaching and learning should bring joy. How powerful would our world be if we had kids who were not afraid to take risks, who were not afraid to think, and who had a champion? Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” - Rita Pierson
