About Mr. Smith 

     Hello and welcome to my Ballentine Elementary first grade site.  My name is Pauley Smith and this will be my 25th year teaching first grade.  I previously taught at White Knoll Elementary (seven years) and most recently at Lake Murray Elementary (sixteen years).  This is my second year at Ballentine and I'm super excited to be here.   It is an amazing school filled with the kindest people.  Before teaching, I  worked at SCDHEC for almost six years.  I feel called to teach first graders.  I love opening up the world of reading and writing to children. This year will be one of tremendous growth.  

     I enjoy hiking, kayaking, exploring new places on my bike, learning to play the guitar, and playing disc golf with my friends.   I've played 130 different disc golf courses in twelve different states!  It's kind of a way of life.  I like to learn and read about early American history and I'm particularly fascinated with naval history around the turn of the 19th century.
