Lexington Alumni Association History
The first mention of the Lexington Alumnae Association was in a 1930's Lexington Leader or Class Book which is now known as a yearbook.
The next mention of the Lexington Alumni Association was in an obituary for Edwin Nies. Nies was a graduate of Lexington School for the Deaf who attended Gallaudet College and became a dentist and later on, a minister. Nies, as mentioned in his obituary, apparently he was an Lexington Alumni President for 25 years. Nies was involved in the National Association of the Deaf and once served as President. It is possible Nies was involved in the founding of the Lexington Alumni or joined shortly after it was founded. There was no mention of the years Nies served as President or how the association was founded.
It is possible the Lexington Alumni Association was founded in the 1930's or even in the 1920's. A lot of documentation about the Lexington Alumni and Lexington School for the Deaf were lost or never recorded.
